The power management system we rebuilt is composed of 2 shaft generators, 4 auxiliary diesel generators and emergency diesel generator.
It can operating automatically, semi-automatically and manually. When every part of power plant is ready to operation (it’s mean don’t have any alarms) we allows 8 operating modes:
- DP mode,
- Auxiliary mode,
- Maneuver mode,
- Shaft generators split mode,
- Shaft generator 1 mode,
- Shaft generator 2 mode,
- FIFI SG1 mode,
- FIFI SG2 mode.
If everything is in remote control the operator can choose one of available modes and power plant will automatically adjust current setup of plant to expected one. New PMS system share to the operator number of settings which effecting on automation processes in case of daily situations. These features includes:
- Start priority for diesel generators,
- Load depend start/stop function,
- Black-out detection and starting procedure for standby generator,
- Symmetrical/asymmetrical P and Q load sharing,
- Conditional connection of standby bow thrusters,
- Conditional operations of bus couplers,
- Supervision of the shore connection breaker position.
According to those functions system is able to communicating with every breaker controller, monitoring theirs position and load, making dynamic synchronization, supervising quality of energy parameters to protect generators and loads connected to bus bars. All actions around PMS system are noted in alarm log available at alarm page and saved in portable memory.
EtherCat protocol was use to guarantee communication redundancy between controllers. In the other hand we have got Modbus TCP/IP standard used between PLC’s, PMS controllers and PMS touchscreens. Explained system is composed of DEIF modules adapt to marine standards: PPM 300, AMC 300 and AGI 400.
